Have you ever wondered how would your life be if you had been born in another country? Which interests would you have if your family’s traditions had been different? Well, this is a situation that I have lived, as I was born in a country from which I moved just 5 years later and I would like to share my impressions about that change.
We are all lucky to know about the existence of other countries and cultures but, how much do we really know about them? Do we completely understand the reasons of their attittudes?
From my own experience, I can assure it is impossible to understand all of these facts without making an effort to get some information about the others’ cultures and also, to see reality from their perspective. After having done this, we can like or dislike their customs, (as long as they respect the human rights), but at least we will have achieved tolerance, which is basic for the human race to survive.
Getting used to a new life in a new country you are not familiar with is not an easy job. In my case, I moved from Venezuela to Spain. When you move to another country, problems related to language, weather, food or religion may appear.
However, there are many more advantages in living in a country which is not yours. The ones I would spot from my own living would be: becoming more openminded, having the opportunity to meet new different people, trying new delicious food, or discovering amazing surroundings while making sports and activities.
The variety of cultures in a same place are able to create a magic we definetely need to take advantage from, at the same time that we are given a tiny glimpse of the huge and fascinating world we live in and we will never get to know in depth.
